The aim of the course is to provide the delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and use assertiveness techniques to enhance their performance. It covers the understanding of the three most common behaviour types and allows the delegates to practice assertiveness techniques in a safe environment. Through the use of various questionnaires delegates will also gain a clearer understanding of their own development needs, in terms of changing certain behaviours.

The course is interactive, fun, and full of ideas, that can be used in the workplace to enhance performance.

Assertiveness Training Objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Fully understand the three most common behaviours
  • Understand the definition of assertiveness
  • Handle conflict and complaints assertively but successfully
  • Resolve problems by using the 5 areas of conflict resolution
  • Know the positives and negatives of each behaviour
  • Demonstrate empathy, but still achieve without violating others rights
  • Say No when necessary, but strive for a workable compromise
  • Understand and use the broken record technique of assertiveness
  • Understand the impact of assertive behaviour v stress
  • Know how certain personality types compliment assertive behaviour
  • Understand the importance of saying what you feel
  • Know the 5 different assertive behaviours
  • Demonstrate the use of assertiveness techniques through role play
